As I stepped onto the stage, I felt so
Anxious and nervous, I noticed the crowd.
I got into place and straightened my bow,
The music began; it was very loud.
My head was keeping time with the drum beat.
Right here, right now, this is where I belong.
I put on a smile and pointed my feet,
I held my carriage and made my neck long.
The lights came on; they were so very bright.
I saw the crowds’ faces, wanting a show.
The only emotion I could feel: FRIGHT.
Soon the dance was done; it was time to go.
As I walked off the stage, out of the light,
And then, I realized, tonight was my night.
