The Lady Eagles took on Juniata Valley in a well-matched contest and came out ahead, clinching their seventh victory in the last eight games.
Juniata Valley has an almost identical season mark at 11–4, narrowly besting Tyrone’s 11–5 record.
Tyrone tipped off the first quarter on a scoring run, adding 14 points to the scoreboard while Juniata Valley trickled in 4.
The Lady Eagles forced Juniata Valley into seven turnovers, which resulted in the early lead, but lady hornets responded by scoring 8 points to end the first quarter at 14-14.
The pace continued to climb high in the second quarter, and the game remained a compelling battle. Juniata Valley took a 27–26 lead into the halftime break.
Tyrone scraped together two late points in the third to tie the score at 37–37, after the Hornets had the lead.
But Lola Woomer opened the fourth with a hook shot, Claire Lehman drilled a three, and Rylan Crowell finished a layup to push Tyrone in front, 44–37.
Tyrone slammed the door in the fourth, regulating Juniata Valley’s offense and allowing just 7 points in the final frame while putting up 14 of their own to seal a 51–44 victory.
The Lady Eagles’ record improved to 12-5.
