The Lady Eagles faced off in a passionate game against their across-town rivals, the Bellwood Blue Devils. They started the game out strong but fell short to the Devils once more with a final score of 49-46.
The Lady Eagles started the game extremely strong, scoring 17 in the first quarter. Raylee Woodring had 6, Brielle Parker had 2, and Claire Lehman had 9. Most of their points were scored in the paint and at the free-throw line.
The Blue Devils looked rough in the first quarter and were struggling to score. thefirst quarter ended 17-7, with the Lady Eagles looking strong.
The second quarter wasn’t as eventful for the Lady Eagles, but they played good defense and did a great job of canceling out the score.
Lola Woomer made her way onto the board in the second quarter with 2 points. Elise Volders was one step behind with 1 point, and Rylan Crowell was a step ahead with 4.
The Blue Devils scored 7 points again, making the halftime score 24-14, and the Eagles were still up by 10.
Coming out of halftime, it seemed like the Devils had gotten pumped up.
The Eagles scored 10 points in the third quarter, 8 of which came from Woodring. The other two came from Senior Crowell.
Although scoring 10 points isn’t bad, the Devils managed to score 16. This made the score 34-30, and the Lady Eagles were slowly losing their lead.
The fourth quarter was extremely intense, and the Lady Eagles found themselves in a stressful situation.
Fortunately for the Lady Eagles, Woomer began to heat up in the fourth quarter, scoring 6 points after struggling to score all game. Woodring had 4 points, and Crowell scored 2 points in the paint.
The Devils kept chipping away at Tyrone’s lead until they finally took over in the last minute. Tyrone had a chance to tie it in their last possession, but their final shot was well defended and missed the mark.
After a hard-fought game, the Lady Eagles shook hands with their rivals and congratulated them on their 49-46 win.
Tyrone’s top scorer was Freshman Raylee Woodring with 18 points.
