Tyrone suffers big loss against West Branch

The Golden Eagles suffered a devastating loss Tuesday versus the Warriors from West Branch. The trifecta of Trude, Krise, and Zwick paced the West Branch team, going for a combined 47 of their 73 points.

The game started out rough for the Golden Eagles with West Branch jumping out to a 20-8 lead after one quarter. From the looks of it, appeared that West Branch might run away with it.

With three quality athletes, it is difficult to play good defense, and you get sucked into their style of play. This cannot happen again if we want to beat them

However, the Golden Eagles wouldn’t go down without a fight and battled back to bring the margin back into the single digits going into the half.

Tyrone started a fire heading into the half, but West Branch confidently put it out in the second.

Tyrone had plenty of momentum and very much could have came back and won the game but West Branch would have none of it.

“With three quality athletes, it is difficult to play good defense, and you get sucked into their style of play. This cannot happen again if we want to beat them,” said senior forward Anthony Politza.

Trude and Krise led all scorers with 18 and 17. Senior Anthony Politza led tyrone with 17 points. Sophomore Jake Meredith helped the big man in scoring, adding 9 points.

Tyrone looks to rebound after this loss, as they have a very tough week against mountain league opponents. They play at Central on Wednesday, home against Huntingdon on Friday, and Penn’s Valley in the middle school on Saturday.
