The Golden Eagles continued to dominate and keep their winning streak alive as they defeated the Clearfield Bison 74-49 to close out the regular season and end on a high note as the playoffs begin.

Tyrone was yet again led by Sam Crilly with 20 points who was followed up by Kendall Lehner’s 15. Ashton Walk and Andrew Escala were both in the double digits as well with 12 and 10 points.

Clearfield started hot with a couple of fast break layups and three-pointers that gave the Bison a solid 7-point lead in the closing minutes of the quarter.

Fortunately for Tyrone, Ashton Walk was able to get his night started with two three-pointers that shortened Clearfield’s lead to one as the 1st quarter ended.

The Bison lead was short-lived as Tyrone quickly regained it with a Sam Crilly three. This was the turning point in the game and The Golden Eagles never looked back and went on a 9-0 run to start the second quarter.

Tyrone ended the half up by 9 points, although the Bison were only a couple possessions away from being back in the game they weren’t able to spark anything the rest of the game and The Golden Eagles took advantage of this.

Coming out of the half with a 3rd seed playoff spot to clinch, The Golden Eagles didn’t waste any time and immediately increased the lead to 15 in the opening minutes.

Kendall Lehner started to hit some shots and was a crucial part in the 25 points scored in the 3rd quarter alone for The Golden Eagles.

By the 4th quarter, The Tyrone lead was too large for the Bison to come back from. After a couple of minutes of extending the lead some players came off the bench and closed out the game for The Golden Eagles.

Tyrone’s Logan Harpster was even able to add to his total with 2 points as Tyrone took down the Bison 74-49 to improve their record to 16-6 and secure the third seed in the District 6 3a playoffs.

Tyrone will take on the 11-11 Penns Valley Rams on 2/23 in the district quarterfinals at home. Tickets can only be purchased online on the official PIAA website. https://www.piaa.org/sports/basketball/default.aspx
