Golden Eagle Record Slips After Road Loss

Tyrone dropped an away game at Hollidaysburg but kept it close throughout the first three quarters.

Tyrone’s leading scorer was junior Kendall Lehner with 19. Junior Sam Crilly also added 10.

Hollidaysburg also had two double-digit contributors in senior Jacob Hileman who posted 20 points, and senior Leyton Weimert scored 12.

The Golden Eagles started hot, scoring 16 points in the first quarter while the Golden Tigers lurked closely behind with 11. Unfortunately, this would be the only quarter that would go in the Golden Eagle’s favor.

“We were in the zone through the first three quarters but we lost our focus before the final buzzer,” said sophomore Owen Oakes.

Hollidaysburg cut the Eagles lead entirely by halftime, sending the teams into the locker room knotted at 30.

The game stayed close during the third quarter with numerous lead changes and ties, but toward the end of the third quarter, Tyrone junior Drew Escala failed an attempted dunk, which shifted the momentum heavily in favor of the Golden Tigers.

In the fourth quarter, the Golden Tigers expanded their lead, scoring 19 points to Tyrone’s 11, which made the final score 64-53 in favor of the Golden Tigers.

The disappointing loss makes Tyrone’s record 8-6 on the year.
