Tyrone Completes Sweep of Hollidaysburg

The Lady Eagles have won four in a row and their record now stands at 7-6

Tyrone completed the season sweep against Hollidaysburg with a 12-9 comeback win at home on Tuesday.

With rain falling for most of the contest, Tyrone started slow but kicked up the energy and won as a team.

The game was much different than the team’s first meeting, which was a relatively easy victory for the Lady Eagles.

We were down 5-0 going into the fourth inning but as a team, we never quit, each player contributed to the game and our teammates kept our energy up in the dugout even though the weather wasn’t great

Hollidaysburg built a 5-0 lead in the second and third innings, capitalizing on Lady Eagles’ walks and errors.

But Tyrone came back strong in the bottom of the third and scored runs in each inning after.

“We battled from the beginning to end and stole the momentum from them around the fourth inning, and we never let it go. We overcame the rain and were tougher than them. We deserved to win the game, “ said Head Coach Hillary Sollener.

Hollidaysburg took the lead early, scoring 2 runs in the second and 3 in the third, but the Lady Eagles got within one run by scoring 4 in the bottom of the fourth.

They took the lead for good in the fifth inning with a three-run inning.

The Lady Eagles knew they needed this win to help them qualify for the playoffs.

Tyrone got hits from Senior Allison Beeman, who belted a double in the bottom of the third inning, and junior Sam Shaw. Freshman Kaitlyn Rockwell had 4 RBIs. Senior KK Brodzina and sophomore Amariah Sprankle also hit doubles.

“We were down 5-0 going into the fourth inning but as a team, we never quit, each player contributed to the game and our teammates kept our energy up in the dugout even though the weather wasn’t great,” said junior Sam Shaw.
