The Bearcats bats were hot on April 29 at Huntingdon, resulting in an 11-4 Huntingdon win over the Lady Eagles.
After a scoreless first inning, Huntingdon got its bats going against Tyrone starting pitcher Kaitlyn Rockwell, scoring 3 runs in the second, 4 in the third, and 2 more in the fourth to jump out to a 9-0 lead before Tyrone could get on the board.
Rockwell took the loss, going the distance but allowing 11 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.
Tyrone actually out-hit Huntingdon 10-8 in the game, but errors were costly for the Lady Eagles, leading to four of the Bearcats 11 runs.
However, the Lady Eagles didn’t give up and got on the board late, plating three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Senior Ally McNelis led the Lady Eagles with four hits and an RBI. Junior Kaitlyn Rockwell and senior Amariah Sprankle both had two hits.
The Lady Eagles waited too long to start consistently getting the bas going, and by that time, it was way too late.
“In the beginning, I thought that we had a good, consistent defensive and offensive run, but in the end, Huntingdon began to pressure us, and we fell under the pressure, and couldn’t come back,” freshman Paisley Fix said.
The Lady Eagles’ record dropped to 7-7, while Huntingdon improved to 10-3.
Tyrone is still in the hunt to earn a playoff spot, but they will need to get a few more wins in the final few games of the season.
