The Tyrone Golden Eagles Swim Team split a dual meet the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers at home on December 17, 2025, with the boys cruising to a 113-53 win and the girls losing 122-38.
This was Tyrone’s second meet out of a three-meet week, and Hollidaysburg put up a good fight in several races that came down to the wire for both the girls and the boys.
BOYS
TYRONE 113, HOLLIDAYSBURG 53
The lone double winner for the boys was Patrick Van Kluenen in the 100 freestyle in 55.22 and the 100 backstroke in 59.54.
First-place finishers for the boys included Matthew Eckenrode in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.08, Eric Goodman in the 50 freestyle in 25.86, and Owen Dunklebarger in the 100 butterfly in 58.93.
All three of the Boys’ relays also won, with the 200 medley relay (Van Kluenen, Nelson, Bonsell, and Eckenrode) in 1:53.59, the 200 freestyle relay (Bonsell, Van Kluenen, Gallagher, and Eckenrode) in 1:42.83, and the 400 freestyle relay (Goodman, George, Filan, and Luther) in 4:52.74.
The Boys continue their hot start to the season, improving their record to 4-1.
GIRLS
HOLLIDAYSBURG 122, TYRONE 38
There were no double winners for the girls.
There were also no first-place winners, but several races came down to the wire, with Hollidaysburg just touching out Tyrone.
Emma Bonsell had two of the closest races of the meet, just getting touched out by two tenths of a second in the 50 freestyle in 28.83, and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.83.
The girl 400 freestyle relay (Bonsell, Corl, Jeffries, and Pennington) also placed second in 4:48.67.
Third-place finishers for the girls included Grace Corl in the 50 freestyle in 30.38 and the 100 freestyle in 1:09.05, Blake Pennington in the 100 backstroke in 1:29.77, as well as the 200 freestyle relay (Bonsell, Corl, Jeffries, and Pennington) in 2:02.23.
The Girls, although falling to 0-5 on the season, continue to work hard and drop time.
Tyrone’s third meet of the week will be away at Altoona on December 19, 2025.
