The Tyrone girls’ swim team picked up its first team win of the season at home against Westmont Hilltop, 97-49, on Tuesday, January 7, 2026. The boys also won in a close meet, 96-68.
This was the Golden Eagles’ second meet in as many days, but both teams were up to the challenge.
Head Coach Tom Getz was happy to see the girls finally get a team win.
“The girls had some great swims, and we did what we needed to do,” Getz said. “We were able to put a strong lineup together, and the swimmers performed, especially the middle of the lineup, with those girls getting the second, third, and fourth places, which really add up. I’ve told them that all the points matter, and they went out and got all the points we could.”
Freshman Emma Bonsell, who been leading the team in wins all season, was also excited to earn the first team win of her high school career.
“It was really cool, and I’m proud of the team for finally getting a win and swimming good times,” Bonsell said.
