The Tyrone varsity baseball team defeated Philipsburg-Osceola 11-7 on Friday, March 28.

Starting pitcher Tristan Lingenfelt pitched an excellent 5 innings.  He held P-O scoreless through three innings and gave up 3 runs in the fourth and fifth.

Relief pitcher Nathan Soellner pitched for the final two innings to seal the win for the Golden Eagles.

Tyrone lead the game from the start, but Philipsburg-Osceola pushed hard late for a four run total between the sixth and seventh inning.

Things looked dark for Tyrone in the final frame as Philipsburg-Osceola got hit after hit off of  Soellner, the junior reliever.  However, Tyrone’s defense pulled it together and Soellner was able to finish out the game.

Jake Dorminy was a key player for the Eagles with some amazing agility on defense as well has his ability to get key hits when Tyrone needed them most.

“We had good starting pitching and everyone hit the ball well” said senior Kristian Cowher.

Tyrone racked up a total of ten hits with two errors and eleven runs in six innings.

Philipsburg-Osceola had eleven hits with two errors as well and seven runs in seven innings.

The Golden Eagles will be in action again tonight vs. Central.
