Steelers manage to get first win

After a slow, winless start to the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets and received their first win. Playing in New York, the Steelers came home with a 19-6 win and moved their record to 1-4.

The Steelers were down early at the end of the first quarter, losing 3-0. But after three field goals by Pittsburgh kicker, Shaun Suisham, the Steelers were up 9-6 at halftime.

TASD Junior, Tristan Lingafelt stated, “It’s a good thing that the Steelers can rely on him, the small points really helped.”

In the third quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw a 55-yard bomb to Emmanuel Sanders for a touchdown. This gave the Steelers a comfortable,  16-6 lead going into the final quarter. Ben passed for 264 yards and a touchdown, also adding two rushes for 11 yards.

In the fourth quarter the Steelers added another field goal, which would finalize the score of 19-6.

The Jets record dropped to 3-3 and local Jets fan, Curtis Warrender commented, “It was a heart-breaking loss, but I don’t think either team was in it.”

The Steelers began with a record of zero wins and four losses. After losing to the Titans, Bengals, Bears, and Vikings – the Steelers got a bye during week 5 of the NFL schedule.
