Tyrone 8, Bald Eagle 7

The Tyrone Lady Eagles started their season strong, racking up 13 hits in an 8-7 win at 2023 state semifinalist Bald Eagle Area on Friday, March 22.

Last year Bald Eagle was one game away from making it to the state championship.

The Lady Eagles began the first inning with an Allison Beeman triple on a BEA error. Amariah Sprankle followed up with an RBI single that scored Beeman from third. Layna Dibert then drove in Sprankle and herself with her first career home run, and Tyrone was off to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

We hit the ball hard and stayed disciplined. Multiple players stepped up to fill out of their comfort zones and they all did well. We played well enough to win the game and give ourselves a 2-1 record going into Easter break

— Head Coach Hilary Sollener

Bald Eagle got two runs back in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-2.

In the second inning, KK Brodzina added another run with an RBI double, making the score 4-2.

In the bottom of the third Bald Eagle tied it up with two home runs.

In the top of the fifth, Tyrone cashed in big and added four more runs with hits from Sam Shaw, Amariah Sprankle, and Layna Dibert, making the score 8-4.

BEA would mount a comeback in the sixth with two runs, making it a one-run game, but the Lady Eagles were able to close the door in the bottom of the seventh for the 8-7 win.

Brodzina led the team with three hits, and Beeman had two. Dibert and Sprankle had three RBIs each.

The Lady Eagles never trailed in the game. Kaitlyn Rockwell earned the win.

Tyrone plans to continue their winning ways with at against Bishop McCort on Friday, April 5th.

Layna Dibert hit her first home run, and Kaitlyn Rockwell earned her first varsity win as Tyrone won at Bald Eagle Area, 8-7, in the season opener for both teams.

Dibert finished with three RBIs to go with two from Amariah Sprankle. KK Brodzina had three hits for Tyrone to go with two each from Sprankle and Dibert.

Rockwell finished with five strikeouts and two walks.
