The Tyrone boys and girls track and field teams continued their winning ways on March 24, dominating both the Penns Valley Rams and the Central Dragons, with numerous athletes placing in the top three.
BOYS: Tyrone 88, Central 62; Tyrone 110, Penns Valley 40
Junior Drew Irons led the way for the Golden Eagles, winning the 200-meter dash in 23.60 seconds, finishing second in the 100-meter dash in 11.90, and running on Tyrone’s winning 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.
Junior Jesse Parks placed third in the 100-meter dash in 12.10, while freshman Chandler Deleonardis finished seventh in 12.50. Tyler Connelly added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 25.40.
Freshman Levi Wrye won the 800-meter run in 2:18.00, with senior Alex Brumbaugh finishing second in 2:19.02.
Freshman Brenson Davis won the 3200-meter run in 10:52.70. Senior Nate Erickson placed second in 11:20.90, and sophomore Gavin Brasher finished third in 11:26.40. Davis also earned second in the 1600-meter run in 4:59.30, while Erickson took third in 5:16.20 and sophomore Cam Coffey placed fourth in 5:22.00.
In the hurdles, junior Kyler Suhoney won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.10, with Connelly finishing second in 18.00. Connelly came back to win the 300-meter hurdles in 46.80, while Suhoney placed second in 48.50. Senior Ashton Emigh placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.90.
In the field events, Eli Woomer won the triple jump and placed third in the long jump. Emigh won the javelin with a throw of 138-6, while senior Corey Gehlman placed fourth with a throw of 125-1. Suhoney also added a second-place finish in the shot put.
Tyrone capped off the day with wins in the 4×100 relay in 46.30 and the 4×400 relay in 3:48.00.
GIRLS: Tyrone 102, Central 47; Tyrone 107, Penns Valley 35
The Lady Eagles were led by sophomore Lola Woomer, junior Sarah Chichester, and junior Josie Dicken.
Woomer won both the high jump and long jump and added a second-place finish in the triple jump. Chichester earned first-place finishes in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, while Dicken won both the shot put and discus.
Senior Claire Lehman won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.90. Senior Nicole Ramsey captured first in the triple jump with a leap of 32-4 and also placed second in the 200-meter dash in 27.80. Senior Addison Warren won the pole vault by clearing 7-6.
Junior Braeleigh Flick won the 400-meter dash in 1:07.20, and freshman Ella Savino took first in the 800-meter run in 2:49.50. Savino also placed second in the 1600-meter run in 6:21.20. Freshman Addison Davis finished second in the 800 in 3:05.70, while freshman Hallie Troutman took second in the 3200-meter run in 15:32.80.
Tyrone dominated the 100-meter dash by sweeping the top three spots. Chichester finished first in 13.00, freshman Raylee Woodring was second in 13.30, and Lehman took third in 13.50.
In the relays, Tyrone’s 4×800 team of Davis, Savino, Troutman, and sophomore Kiana Gardner won in 11:47, while the 4×400 team of Chichester, Lehman, Woodring, and Flick also took first in 4:21.10. The Lady Eagles’ 4×100 relay team was disqualified.
In the throws, Dicken won the discus with a throw of 91-11 and the shot put with a mark of 30-6. Senior Elise Volders placed second in the discus with a throw of 85-8, and freshman Violet Weaver took second in the shot put with a throw of 26-5.50. In the javelin, sophomore Genevieve Naylor placed second with a throw of 91-9, and junior Olivia Newlin was third with a throw of 85-2.
