Shaw Leads Lady Eagles to Win Over Johnstown

The Lady Eagles are on a 3-0 run to even their season record at 6-6

The Tyrone Lady Eagles went 3-0 on the week with wins against Bellwood, Hollidaysburg, and Johnstown.

In their third win of the week, Tyrone traveled to Johnstown, where they 10 run-ruled the Lady Trojans 19-4 in just four innings.

Tyrone junior Sam Shaw led the Lady Eagles with three hits and 5 RBIs, including her first career home run in the first, scoring the first two Tyrone runs.

Tyrone scored three more in the first to make it 5-0, but Johnstown came back in the bottom of the first with three runs of their own.

Tyrone responded by scoring 10 runs in the second inning.

Shaw doubled, Tiffanie Tuskovitch, Ally McNelis, Lucy Fogleman, and Teegan Sharer all singled. The second time through the lineup, Shaw had a second double, and Fogleman and Kaitlyn Rockwell singled.

Teagan Sharer and Lucy Fogleman each had three hits and two RBIs, and  Kaitlyn Rockwell and Ally McNelis each added two hits.

Winning pitcher Kaitlyn Rockwell gave up just three hits and three runs and struck out seven.

The Lady Eagles took the win with 18 hits, five players recording multiple hits, and no errors on the field.

Tyrone also improved its record to 6-6 on the season.

Allison Beeman is a senior in high school and in her third year of Eagle Eye. When Allison is not in school, she enjoys playing softball as an outfielder. During the summer she traveled to Denver, Colorado to play in a softball tournament. After high school, she would like to attend college to major in business.  Before coming to Tyrone Allison lived in West Virginia and before that Maryland. Some of Allison's interests include listening to music, traveling, and hanging out with friends.  This year in Eagle Eye, Allison looks forward to taking pictures at football games and writing softball stories.

Todd Cammarata, Adviser
Mr. Todd Cammarata, or "TCamm" as he is known to the Eagle Eye Staff, has been advising the Eagle Eye since 2013.  He also advises the Eagle Yearbook and teaches several other classes including US Civics and Psychology.  Cammarata grew up around journalism and photography. His dad ran a local weekly newspaper in Patton, PA for many years.  Cammarata enjoys photography and he is often a photo contributor to the Eagle Eye. In 2023 Cammarata was named the Pennsylvania Journalism Teacher of the Year by the Pennsylvania School Press Association. Under his advising, the Eagle Eye has won many state and national awards including being named the Best Student Website in Pennsylvania by the Keystone Media Awards. The Eagle Eye has also earned the SNO Distinguished Site Award every year it has been offered.
