The Tyrone Girls Basketball team fell at the hands of the rival Bellwood Antis Blue Devils Saturday afternoon by a score of 66-40. The Lady Eagles contained the high powered lady Devils for the first half but a second half surge led by Notre Dame commit Alli Campbell was too much for Tyrone to handle.

Campbell, who will play at Notre Dame next season, scored 35 points to seal the game for the Lady Blue Devils

The Lady Eagle upset bid was led by sophomore standout Jaida Parker, who scored 24 points herself, picking up right where she left off after she burst onto the scene during her freshman season.

Tyrone started off the game with a bang as Shannon Shaw knocked down a three right out of the gate. However, Bellwood responded right away by scoring 9 straight points after the Shaw three.

The Golden Eagles closed out the quarter on a 8-4 run to cut Bellwood’s lead to 13-11 at the end of the first. In the second quarter it looked as if Bellwood was going to pull away but Tyrone did just enough to keep the door cracked open. The first half came to a close with Tyrone trailing by nine, 27-18.

In the third quarter the Lady Eagles could not buy a bucket as all their shots seemed to be going down, then pop out at the last moment. The Blue Devil defense held Tyrone to only 8 points while putting up 20. The score after three was 47-26 Bellwood.

The fourth quarter did not get much better for Tyrone although their offense managed to more than double their point total from the third quarter the Blue Devil offense kept in stride putting up 19 points.

The Lady Eagles look to pick up their first win of the season as they welcome the Bellefonte Red Raiders to town Wednesday night.
