Lady Eagles even their season record with a win against Huntingdon 41-35

Tyrone Lady Eagles evened out their season record with a 41-35 win over the Huntingdon Lady Bearcats on Saturday, December 20.

The Lady Eagles strong defense was able to hold the Bearcats to only 5 points in the first quarter, opposed to their 17.

Marissa Sprankle played tough defense against the Lady Bearcats.

“It was definitely a win we needed and it set us in a good spot to reach our overall goal. Everyone did their part and we battled until the end,” said junior Marissa Sprankle.

Maddie Noll hit three 3-point goals in the first half, two of them being back to back.

“I thought for having a game yesterday and today we did well. The team stepped up and played good defense,” said Noll.

Tyrone sophomore Kasey Engle started off the game with a deep three pointer in the first few minutes and led Tyrone scorers with 14 points.

Finnley Christine and Kasey Engle both had two 3-point goals.

Brianna Revello led all scorers with 17 points for the Bearcats.

In the fourth quarter Huntingdon came back within four points, but Christine knocked off a three pointer to allow Tyrone to open up the gap again.

Senior Lindsey Kemp fouled out of the game early in the fourth quarter leaving her tough defensive coverage up to freshman Emily Lehman.

“I think we played well. Even though I fouled out I was excited to see the ladies push their hardest and play their hearts out. They played hard from the first quarter to the last second of the game,” said Kemp.

“We came out and played well in the first half but we had a cold second half. Maddie Noll and Lindsey Kemp played well and stepped up in place of our two main shooters who were off,” said head coach Lucas Rhoades.
