Lady Eagles Dominate the Blue Devils in Season Opener

The Lady Eagles crushed the Bellwood Blue Devils 65-48 in their season opener at home on Saturday, December 11th.

This is the first time in many years the Pink Ball will be placed in the middle school showcase.

Senior Jaida Parker led the Lady Eagles with 24 points, followed by senior Stephanie Ramsey with 16 points.

I think it was a great start to our season. This is a great group of girls who have put in the time and effort in practice which was evident in the game.

— Senior Jaida Parker

“I think it was a great start to our season. This is a great group of girls who have put in the time and effort in practice which was evident in the game. Our focus has been defense and speeding up the game and I think we did a great job doing that,” said Parker.

The Lady Eagles started off strong with an 8-0 run, but Bellwood responded by scoring 6 points. By the end of the first quarter, Tyrone was leading by 7.

The Eagles put 19 on the board in the second, Bellwood followed up with 9. The third consisted of 16 from the Eagles and 9 from the Blue Devils.

In the final quarter the Eagles finished the game with 65 points, Bellwood finished with 48 points.

On the defensive side of things, the Lady Eagles controlled Bellwood’s best shooters, holding McCaulsky to 19 points and Worthing to 15. These two players were the Eagle’s main focus, they knew they had to stop those two in order to win.

The Lady Eagles will take on the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers at home on Tuesday, December 14th at 7:30. The student section theme will be PJ night.
