In Lehman’s Terms: Senior’s Career Night Leads Eagles Over Penns Valley

Behind a career-high 23 points from senior Emily Lehman, including a strong 11-14 from the free throw line, the Lady Eagles upset previously undefeated Penns Valley 50-45 in overtime.

Sydney Shaw followed  Lehman with nine points and Payton Wagner netted eight.

The Lady Eagles came from eight points down with a little under six minutes left to force overtime and ultimately upset Penns Valley extending their winning streak to four games.

Both teams came out with a balanced game plan, neither team pulling too far ahead of each other. The Lady Eagles finished the low scoring defensive quarter with a slim, one point 10-9 lead.

The second quarter was the same defensive battle with both teams holding the other to very few chances to pull ahead and take command of the game. The quarter came to a close with Penns Valley holding a one-point lead over the Lady Eagles.

Penns Valley pulled ahead in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Eagles 16-10 giving them a 39-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Penns Valley kept their momentum going to start the fourth quarter holding a 42-35 lead over the Lady Eagles with a little under 6 minutes remaining. But, the Lady Eagles came storming back outscoring Penns Valley 9-2 in the final minutes of the fourth quarter making the score 42-44. Lehman sunk two free throws to force the game into overtime.

The Lady Eagles dominated the overtime period scoring six points while holding Penns Valley to one.
