Amid rain delays, Tyrone varsity baseball was only able to play two games in three weeks.

Penns Valley

Tyrone pulled ahead early and stayed ahead in a 2-0 win.

After going up 2-0 on Penns Valley’s defense in the top of the first, Tyrone freshman Wyatt Kustenbauder put up a solid 3 innings, striking out 1 and only giving up 1 hit in 46 pitches on the evening.

Tyrone’s offense would be held at bay, even though they collected 7 hits on the day, and showed discipline walking twice. Both teams played solid defense and showed promise at the plate.

Tyrone junior Dylan Ewing relieved Kustenbauder and provided the Golden Eagles 3 solid innings, striking out three while giving up 2 hits.

In the 7th, Tyrone junior Ashton Walk made his varsity debut on the mound, but Penns Valley was able to score two runs off of him.

Senior Landon Postreich shut down the rallying offense in the seventh to collect a save.

Central

Central beat the Golden Eagles  11-4 as they tallied 12 hits for 11 runs.

Landon Postreich took the hill for Tyrone and had an exceptional performance. He gave up 10 runs total but 5 of them were due to errors.

Fielding was the Golden Eagles’ weak point as they accumulated 7 errors and gave up 11 total runs.

Although the fielding was poor, Tyrone was able to pick up their slumping hitting and tallied 9 hits for 4 runs, however, the Golden Eagles continued to struggle to drive runners in as they left over 10 runners on base.

Some key players for Central were Griffin Snowberger and Troy McNichol who combined for 6 hits and were responsible for 8 runs scored.

Ashton Walk and AJ Coleman were key players for The Golden Eagles who were responsible for 3 runs. Coleman was able to force 2 walks and score 2 runs as Ashton Walk smacked 2 hits and drove in a run.

Central improved their record to 4-1 and Tyrone’s dropped to 2-3. Both teams are prepared for the Curve Classic and have a decent chance to match up against each other again.
