Eagle Eye Promposal Contest: If You Like It Then You Put A Ring On It

Senior Derrick Harris

Senior Derrick Harris and junior Kristen Johnson have been dating for over one year, and Derrick combined both a Valentine’s Day gift and promposal together.

While exchanging gifts, Harris placed the note on the top of the ring box. The note read “Prom with you has a nice RING to it, Prom Kristen?” Kristen didn’t notice the note at first but when she did she was very happy.

Promposer: Derrick Harris

Eagle Eye: Describe in detail how you asked them.

Derrick Harris: “Kristen came over to exchange gifts for Valentine’s Day. I decided I’d put the note on top of the ring box. She didn’t notice the note at first, but when she did she said yes. I wasn’t planning on promposing but I thought of it and decided to do it last minute.”

EE: Why did you choose this person to ask?

DH: “We already were going together, but she didn’t think I would ask so I surprised her.”

EE: Where did you get the inspiration for the idea?

DH: “It was her Valentine’s Day gift and I thought it was a good idea to tie Prom into it.”

EE: What relationship do you have with this person?

DH: “She is my girlfriend.”

Promposee: Kristen Johnson

Eagle Eye: Give your side of the story. Why do you think they asked you?

Kristen Johnson: “He asked me because we are dating. I always jokingly drop hints about jewelry so he must have taken one of them.”

EE: Describe in detail how you were asked and how you felt.

KJ: “He asked me the weekend before Valentine’s Day by surprising me with a ring. I was very happy.”

EE: Did you have any suspicions that you were going to be asked by them?

KJ: “I knew that we were going together anyways, so I didn’t expect him to ask.”

EE: Why should you win the contest?

KJ: “It was a very thoughtful promposal and very sweet.”
