“[Softball] has made me into the person I am today. Because of softball, I have become a leader and a hard worker. Softball has always been the thing I looked forward to. If I had a bad day at school, I knew that all I needed was to go to softball,” said Brodzina. “The friendships and connections I’ve made with my teammates and coaches are something that I will never forget.”

Brodzina considered other schools, but Lock Haven was ultimately the best choice for her.

“At first, Lock Haven wasn’t my first choice. I wanted to major in physical therapy and attend Saint Francis,” said Brodzina. “What changed my mind was the fourth graders I helped with every day. They helped me realize that I was meant to be a phys ed teacher.”

Brodzina is a leader on her high school softball team and will bring that experience to Lock Haven.

“Maci is like having another coach on the field both during games and practices. She sets the tone for the day, and she is so respected and loved by all her teammates,” said Tyrone Head Coach Doug Myers.

Brodzina loved her high school softball career, and she hopes to make more memories with her new team at Lock Haven University.

“My favorite memory from high school softball was the van ride to State College, going to districts my freshman year, and taking our mascots to every game,” said Brodzina.

“As she begins another chapter of her life. I hope [Maci] knows that we wish her the very best, she will be extremely missed and we appreciate her and the dedication she has given to our program. We’ve had some great memories that I will cherish forever,” said Coach Doug Myers

The Lock Haven Bald Eagles compete in NCAA Division ll and are a part of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, a 10 member conference that includes Kutztown, Shippensburg, and Bloomsburg.

The Bald Eagles ended their 2022 season with a 19-18 record. They are looking forward to their team coming back next year, plus the new players including Brodzina.

The Lock Haven Softball team is coached by Head Coach Kelly Shannon and assistant coach Danielle Fraser.

Brodzina is looking forward to becoming more independent and playing softball at a higher level.

“I’m interested in seeing the difference between high school softball and college softball,” said Brodzina.
