The Golden Eagles battled Bellefonte in a hard-fought 73-61 win on Saturday.
Bellefonte has had its struggles in the win department this season. However, the Red Raiders played much better than their 2-15 record and gave Tyrone a battle.
“We could have played better, but at the end of the day, we got the win and got the job done,” said senior Ashton Emigh.
Junior Ben Walk led the Eagles in scoring with 20 points, Carter Gwinn was right behind him with 16 points, and Eli Woomer and Ashton Emigh both had 12 points.
The Eagles started the game off hot, going on a 12-2 run, but after a timeout, Bellefonte regained its composure to get within 4 points of the lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Eagles went into halftime up 33-28.
After halftime, the Eagles came out on fire, outscoring Bellefonte 23-11 in the third quarter, which put the Eagles up 16 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles kept the pressure on the Red Raiders and rode into a 73-61 win.
“We need to pick up our defense intensity at times, and we will be good,” said Tyrone Head Coach Luke Rhoades.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 10-6.
