The Tyrone Boys and Girls swim team traveled the distance to Marion Center to compete against the Stingers on January 30, 2026.
The Boys won with a score of 119-43 against the Stingers, while the girls fell with a score of 115-48.
BOYS
TYRONE 119, MARION CENTER 43
Double winners for the boys included Mathew Eckenrode in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.86, and in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.23, along with Patrick Van Kluenen, who won the 200 IM in 2:16.58, and the 100 backstroke in 59.90.
Individual first-place finishers included Eric Goodman in the 50 freestyle in 25.57, Lucas Bonsell in the 100 fly in 1:00.61, Owen Dunklebarger in the 100 freestyle in 55.27, and Cam Nelson in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.67.
All three Tyrone boys’ relays also earned first place.
The Boys are now 9-1 and continue to improve their times and try for districts as the season begins to wind down.
GIRLS
MARION CENTER 115, TYRONE 48
There were no double winners for the girls.
The lone individual winner was Emma Bonsell in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:21.36.
The girls’ 200 medley A relay also won.
Second-place finishers for the girls included Grace Corl in the 50 freestyle in 30.23 and Emma Bonsell in the 100 freestyle in 1:07.33.
With their loss, the girls now fall to 1-9 on the season.
However, despite their record struggles, the girls continue to improve their own times and keep growing throughout the season.
