Tyrone’s Devon Brown was one of three winners for the Eagles last night

The Golden Eagle wrestlers traveled to Spring Cove Tuesday, only to lose another, 49-18.  Despite the loss, Tyrone had some exciting bouts and individual successes from four wrestlers, Dakota Walk, Nick Getz, Devon Brown and Phoenix Farias.

In one of the best bouts of the evening for Tyrone, heavyweight Dakota Walk took on Central’s Bryce Baughman.  Walk was filling in for Stevie Colyer who was out due to illness.

Walk was head locked early in the first period and appeared to be in trouble but was able to reverse Baughman and had him on his back. Within 15 seconds of the match starting, the score was 5-5. Walk continued to rally and pinned Baughman with 31 seconds to spare in the first period.

“The match was very exciting, I was just using my head as I wrestled,” said Walk after his bout.

Tyrone’s Devon Brown also pinned Central’s Cameron Williams with a power half at the 106 pound weight class.

Also getting the win for the Eagles was senior Nick Getz against Central freshman Jarred Smith at 170 pounds. Nick rode Smith like a horse and won the bout 8-2.

Next was 160 with The Eagles Phoenix Farias taking on the Dragons Collin Orey. Farias went to work and threw Orey in the first. Farias then successfully rode Orey out for the rest of the bout to win 5-2.

The night started out with Tyrone giving a forfeit at 132 pounds.

Tyrone’s Sage Dixon then took on the Dragon’s Nick Hobenstine. Hobenstine pulled out the win 14-3.

At 152 pounds, Tyrone’s Casey McCloskey took on Bryce Biddle. Biddle went to work instantly and got a quick two points  from the takedown, he then stacked McCloskey up and pinned him.

Senior Ty Snyder faced Spring Cove junior Jordan Quarello. Quarello got a quick takedown on Snyder, from there it was both guys going at it for most of the match. Snyder lost the match 4-3 in the last seconds.

In the next bout, John Chronister took on Mike Mock. Mock started the match with a very impressive takedown, and pinned Chronister in last 6 seconds of the last period.

At 195, due to absence of Ricky Reader, Tyrone’s Cody Cassler stepped in for his first wrestling bout ever. Cassler was pinned by his opponent Caleb Harrison.

At 113 pounds Mikey Cherry took on Nathan Earnest. Earnest took a hold of the reigns early in the match and ended up pinning Cherry in the second period.

Brandon Schwab of Spring Cove then revived a forfeit.

The last match of the night was Aaron Lewis versus the Dragon’s Brock Biddle who pinned Lewis in the 1st period.

Despite a couple of good individual performances by the Eagles, the  Dragons were able to take the match easily 49-18.
