The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter officer team participated in State Representative Scott Barger’s Farmers Breakfast, an event aimed at uniting agricultural advocates from Blair County on March 13, 2026, at the US Hotel Tavern in Hollidaysburg.

The event recognized the contributions of those in agriculture, fostered collaboration, and provided a platform to discuss current industry challenges and potential solutions.

During breakfast, officers had the opportunity to network with influential leaders and gain insights into how policy decisions affect farmers and rural communities.

They engaged with prominent guests such as Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, Pennsylvania State Senator Judy Ward, and Pennsylvania State Representative Scott Barger. These interactions highlighted the connection between state-level leadership and the everyday realities of agricultural life in Blair County.

Tyrone Area FFA officers Frances Weaver, Carlie Nowlin, Paige Hoy, Cassidy Fleck, Alyssa Houck, Gracie Graham, Bailey Woomer, and Madisen Jones were all in attendance.

“Attending the Farmers Breakfast with my fellow FFA officers was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from legislators and agricultural leaders about the challenges and opportunities facing farmers today. It was encouraging to see policymakers actively listen to farmers and discuss continued support for agriculture in rural communities,” FFA Chapter officer Alyssa Houck said.

Attendees left with new perspectives and a deeper understanding of the issues and opportunities within Pennsylvania agriculture.

The event opened eyes and broadened opinions, bringing together influential leaders and local advocates in respectful communication, transcending political affiliations, religions, and identities.
