Tiny But Mighty: 2022 TAHS Marching Band Preview

After three years of canceled or altered performances, the Tyrone Golden Eagle Marching Band is ready to make a full comeback with their 2022 halftime show “Angels and Demons.”

Band Director David Hock is excited about the show and looking forward to bringing the performance to the Tyrone audience.

“The new members are progressing very well and I’m proud of how much they’ve learned and how far they’ve come even in just the first month of marching band. I’m sure they will continue that growth through the season,” said Hock.

With the help of the upperclassman, the new members have already learned a lot. Being a small band, the members are very supportive of one another and enjoy seeing everyone learn and progress musically.

Every year is the same goal, to challenge the students with fun, engaging music that will help each student grow as musicians and as people, and have fun in the process

“Every year is the same goal, to challenge the students with fun, engaging music that will help each student grow as musicians and as people, and have fun in the process,” said Hock.

Eighth-grader Elijah Richardson gave his view on what he hopes to get out of band this year, “what I want from the band is to kind of relieve all of the stress off of my shoulders from school. To find things I like, and get better at everyday things.”

The band’s 2022 show is based on the tune “Salvation is Created,” a choral work composed by Pavel Chesnokov in 1912 as the fifth in his Ten Communion Hymns.

Senior Laci Daniel is featured as a soloist during the performance closer.  Daniels switches instruments from the opener to the closer from the vibraphone to clarinet.

Junior Joey Davis has a small part in the opener and performs the main solo during the ballad.

Junior Drum Major Kaleigh Brodzina also has a small solo during the opener.
