With just three seconds left in regulation, Tyrone and Hollidaysburg were tied 50-50 on Tuesday, January 17 when Hollidaysburg sophomore Brady Steiner hit a game-winning corner three to take the game for Hollidaysburg.

Stiner was the top scorer in the game with 17 points.

Every time I thought we were going to pull away, we turned the ball over and they hit some big shots. They made clutch shot after clutch shot numerous times in the game

Tyrone led by four going into the second half with sophomores Andrew Escala and Sam Crilly each hitting a three to boost to 26-22 in favor of Tyrone. Crilly had three 3s in the first half and finished the game with a team-leading 14 points.

There were a lot of missed shots by Tyrone allowing Hollidaysburg to come back in transition layups. With Tyrone senior Ross Gampe in foul trouble, it allowed Hollidaysburg to score in the paint and set them up for the game-winning buzzer-beater.

“We missed a ton of free throws and layups,” said Tyrone Head Coach, George Gripp. “Every time I thought we were going to pull away, we turned the ball over and they hit some big shots. They made clutch shot after clutch shot numerous times in the game.”

Tyrone senior Ross Gampe had a layup late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 50.
After missing shots on both ends of the court, Gampe swatted a pass out of bounds with 4 seconds left.

“We fought back to tie it late in the fourth quarter. It’s unfortunate the game had to end that way,” said Gampe.
