The Golden Eagles slipped by Clearfield in one of Tyrone’s most impressive comebacks.

Tyrone was down 18 points in the first, but they battled back to win by seven points.

The story of the game was Senior Parker Mitchell. If no one else was playing well, Parker was. When the team needed him, he came through.

Mitchell finished with 22 points while seniors Jake Meredith and Dylan Thomas scored 11 and 12, respectively.

Clearfield started out strong and at one point in the first half led by as many as 18 points. They were the story of the first half. They controlled the pace and played very efficient basketball.

The most important thing for us was to just keep fighting and never give up

— Senior Jacob Meredith

The second half, on the other hand, belongs to the Golden Eagles.

Over two halves, the Eagles compiled a 30-6 run which gave them the lead and in turn, the game.

“The most important thing for us was to just keep fighting and never give up,” said senior Jacob Meredith.

That is exactly what Tyrone did.

They grinded and scrapped their way to a quality win over a very athletic and competitive Clearfield team.

The Eagles have moved to 8-2 on the season and are tied for second in the Mountain League.
