Keyed by a game leading 25 point performance from senior forward Anthony Politza, Tyrone won a hard fought 10 point victory against Central this past Wednesday night over the Scarlet Dragons of Central.

“It was a hard fought game. Alex gave us a spark in the first half and we were able to force Central out of their zone defense, which helped us pull the game out,” said Politza.

The game started out slow with both teams struggling to score until Central got the first basket of the night with a down low put in. Tyrone struggled to score in the first only scoring four points. Central led 8-4 at the end of the first quarter.

But Tyrone came back hard scoring 21 points in the second quarter to give the Eagles the 25-18 lead.

Alex Weaver really showed his stuff scoring 13 points Wednesday night. Alex made three scores from beyond the arc and drove in for two lay ups.

“We had to come out playing hard after the half, and that’s what we did and we got the W,” said Weaver.

The Eagles score a lot of points off their inside game half of their points are coming from driving and dishing.

“We moved the ball pretty well in the first half. Even the second quarter was decent. we picked it up and started playing with more intensity in the second half,” said Head Coach George Gripp.

The Eagles next match up with the Kiwanis Tournament 12/28 at 7:30 pm at Tyrone.
