Local Business Review: Affordable Fun at Charlie’s Pool Hall

Charlie’s Pool Hall in Tyrone is a good place for teenagers to have fun and give them something to do. Not only is it very affordable to play pool at only $5.00 an hour, but it is a simple but nice establishment that is very welcoming.

The business is run by local veteran Charlie Mills, who served in Vietnam and was shot twice.  Mills later became a police officer after he retired from the military. He said he always wanted to help young people get their lives back together. He later formed the veteran’s parade, and is part of the Navy Club.

Last year after the release of my first film, I turned my love of filmmaking and videography into a business. I have worked with multiple local businesses to produce advertisements. I was impressed with the business and Mr. Mills and recently did an ad for him. The inside of the pool hall is very clean, and has a nice comfortable feel to it.

I’m still working with them to make Charlie’s Pool Hall a well-known addition of things to do in Tyrone. All of the money to keep the business open comes out of Charlie’s own pocket.

The pool hall is located directly beside the six pack shop at 5587 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd. Tyrone, PA, 16686.

This man has done plenty for the community and I think it is time to give back. In addition to running two other businesses, Mills also puts books together that are filled with short stories written by local veterans and sells them for only $20.

So if you’re bored and looking for something new to do, stop by and play some pool at his place.
