Golden Eagles Blaze past the Bison

Led by senior Cory Lehman the the Tyrone Golden Eagles blew past Clearfield in one of their best offensive performances of the season. Tyrone won 13-3 in 6 innings to improve their record to 14-2 on the season.

Cory Lehman, Brandon Lucas and Rodney Shultz led the offensive boom for the Golden Eagles. Lehman had 3 hits and 5 RBIs, Lucas has 2 hits and 3 RBIs, and Shultz had 2 hits and drove in one. Matthew Savino and Kevin Lehner also drove in runs for the Golden Eagles.

Matthew Savino got the start for the Golden Eagles and mowed up and down the Bison order. Savino allowed only 3 runs and 6 hits while striking out three over his 4 innings. Freshman Aidan Coleman relieved Savino and kept the strain of dominance going. He allowed only 1 hit and struck out two more.  

Both teams came out of the gate with their bats ablaze Tyrone opened the game scoring 2 runs. Clearfield waited no time responding as they scored 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first.

Tyrone immediately took the lead back in the top of the second. They were held quiet in the top of the third but the Bison were not able to keep the Eagles quiet down the final stretch.

The Golden Eagles scored 10 runs over the final 3 innings including 4 in the 4th and 4 more in the 5th giving them the 10 run advantage bringing the 10 run mercy rule into effect ending the game after 6 innings.

Savino picked up his second victory of the season. The Golden Eagles look to edge closer to the Mountain League title on Friday as they travel to Bald Eagle for a rematch in which Tyrone was down for most of the game but fought back to secure the victory.
