The Tyrone Golden Eagles suffered their first loss of the season on Monday, December 18, falling to Richland 58-46.

The bright spot of the night for the Eagles was senior Dylan Thomas scoring 19 points with four three-pointers.

The Eagles were only trailing 11-7 after the first quarter, but in the second Richland asserted their dominance. The undefeated Rams went on a 10-0 run to start the period and ended up outscoring the Eagles 22-14 in the quarter.

“We need to play tougher. We played timid because they were bigger than us and that can’t happen,” said senior Jake Meredith.

To start the second half the Rams kept their high tempo offense going and built a nice lead that would end up holding for the rest of the night.

The Eagles suffered their first loss of the season falling to 3-1, while Richland improved to 5-0.

Tyrone will look to bounce back with two games later in the week, at home vs. Huntingdon away at Mount Union.
