Eagles Fly Over Rams for 1st Mountain League Win

Tyrone 9, Penns Valley 3

Strong pitching from starter Alex Weaver and ten hits from the Golden Eagle offense helped Tyrone blow past Penns Valley 9-3 on Monday night.

Tyrone started the game strong, scoring multiple runs within the first inning. Brian Gunter started off hot blasting a double and single in his first two at bats.

Matt Brenneman knocked in several runs throughout the game batting at the fifth spot while also boasting an inside the park home-run gifted to him by two errors.

Weaver dominated the Penns Valley batters and held them scoreless into the fifth inning. Penns Valley only scored 3 runs on the game and gained all three within the fifth inning.

Tyrone responded well in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning to bounce out to a 9-3 lead.

Drew Hunter and Brian Gunter hopped on base and were sent home off a double by Anthony Politza. Coy Focht then got the RBI by driving in Politza.

Weaver continued his hot pitching and solidified the win with seven strikeouts and only two hits.
