Eagles Advance to Final Four in District 6 Team Duals

Tyrone Golden Eagles were looking to scrap at the first round of district duals at Huntingdon High School on Tuesday. First, the Eagles obliterated Southern Huntingdon in a 57-16 victory and then earned a clutch 6 point upset win over second-seeded United to move on to the final four for district duals.

“We jumped the Southern Rockets and rode in the nights United Leo. These stars did shine bright but the momentum of the Southern Rockets carried us through to face the Ursa Minor Cats this weekend,” said Tyrone Head Coach Quentin Wright.

Senior Jason “Butch” Barr went 2-0 at United pinning Southern Huntingdon’s Rice in roughly a minute. Barr also got the vital pin against United’s Torok in just 36 seconds to seal the win.

Senior Zack Lash went out looking for a pin and he got some of the quickest pins of the night. Lash pinned Southern Huntingdons Kerlin in just 48 seconds. Then Lash enacted the iconic Lash attack on United’s Travis, expelling his doom in just 41 seconds.

Sophomore Braden Ewing earned 12 points between 2 matches. Braden Pinned both Southern Huntingdon’s Baren and United’s McGinnis in the first period.

Senior Ashton Sipes got the only tech fall of the night, Sipes outwrestled Southern Huntingdon’s Harper where he won by 18-2; United was fearful of Sipes ability so they forfeited against him.

Junior Korry Walls wrestled United’s Sombronski, Sombronski wanted a win but Walls fought hard and earned a 3-1 decision. Walls also got a forfeit against Southern Huntingdon.

Junior Reese Wood “got ‘er done fast” when he pinned both Southern Huntingdon’s Hollibaugh and United’s Rudnik in the 1st period.

Junior Brody Klein fought a tough match against Southern Huntington’s Hoops. Klein was leading 3-2 but managed to put Hoops on his back for a pin, earning the Eagles 6 points.

Sophomore Andrew Weaver clutched 3 hard-earned points for the Eagles. Weaver nearly pinned United’s Tomalson but luckily for the Lion the period was over but he wasn’t out of the woods yet because Weaver managed to decision him 6-2.

“We are on the win train and no team is going to us,“ said freshman Logan Rumberger.

Rumberger got 6 points on the board when he pinned Southern Huntingdon’s Cromwell.

Sophomore Remington Fleck also earned 6 points against Southern Huntingdon when he pinned Fraker.

Sophomore Lukas Walk earned 3 points for the Eagles when he beat Southern Huntington’s Scott in a 15-6 decision.
