Seniors Cortlynd Rhoades, Keegan Gwinn, and Landen DeHaas represented Tyrone on the Blair County All-Star team in the 15th annual Altoona Mirror Basketball Classic at Mount Aloysius College Athletic and Convocation Center in Cresson last Friday night.

As in most all-star games, the pace of the game was fast and entertaining with the focus on offense. It was the first all-star game since 2019, due to COVID. In the end, the Blair County All-Stars fell to the Central PA All-Stars by a score of 136-97.

It was fun playing my last game ever as well playing other players from different schools

The victorious Central PA team came within eight points of the all-time game record of 144 points, set by the Central PA team in 2013.

The game also marked the last time that Rhoades, Gwinn, and DeHaas would be on the same team and court. Tyrone and Altoona were the only boys teams with three representatives on either boy’s squad.

The Blair County stars were led by MVP Ashton Bardell and Colin Lear, both of Altoona, who scored 15 points each.

Tyrone’s Landon DeHaas was the next highest scorer for Blair County with 14 points. Tyrone’s Cortlynd Roades scored three and Keegan Gwinn scored two.

The Central PA team improved to 11-4 all-time. The game was back and forth in the first, but the Central PA team took the lead in the second quarter and built a 61-49 halftime lead.

Scoring leaders for the Central PA team were Richland’s Trent Rozich with 20 points, Central Cambria’s Daric Danchanko with 14, and Huntingdon’s Alec Cooper scored 13.

¨It was fun playing my last game ever as well playing other players from different schools,¨ said Tyrone senior Cortlynd Rhoades.
