Athletes of the Week: Cassidy Miksich and Jake Taylor

Cassidy

Name: Cassidy Miksich

Grade: 10

Sport: Golf

Accomplishment: Cassidy repeated as the District 6 girls champion and has qualified for the state championship match.

Eagle Eye: How did you get involved in the sport?

Cassidy Miksich: “I found golf clubs at a yard sale when I was 4, and begged my parents to get them so I could play.”

EE: What other sports do you play?

CM:  “I used to do volleyball and quit two years ago.”

EE: Favorite professional sports team?

CM: Steelers

EE: Favorite professional athlete?

CM: Rickie Fowler

EE: Who do you admire the most? Why?

CM:  “I admire a lot of people for multiple reasons. Many people I know have a hard drive and no quit, So I can’t choose just one person.”

EE: Favorite band/musician?

CM: “Luke Combs or Kane Brown”

EE: Favorite movie?

CM: Only the Brave and Rocketman

EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

CM: Find something you like because you’ll eventually get good at it if you work hard enough. This skill can take you far in life.

EE: What are your future goals?

CM: “I want to go to college on a golf scholarship but I don’t know what I want to study yet.”

Name: Jake Taylor

Grade: 12

Sport: Golf

Accomplishment: Jake finished in the top four at the District 6 boys championship match and has qualified for the upcoming state championship match.

Eagle Eye: How did you get involved in the sport?

Jake Taylor: “My dad introduced me to the sport when I was about 9 or 10 years old.”

EE: What other sports do you play?

JT: “Basketball and track”

EE: Favorite professional sports team?

JT: “LA Lakers”

EE: Favorite professional athlete?

JT: “LeBron James”

EE: Who do you admire the most? Why?

JT: “My mother because no matter what, she will always support me the best she can.”

EE: Favorite band/musician?

JT: Wiz Khalifa

EE: Favorite movie?

JT: Meet the Fockers

EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

JT: “Have fun in your early years but be smart…life gets hard.”

EE: What are your future goals?

JT: “Play golf in college after I serve four years in the Air Force, then get on Tour by age 30.”
