The Lady Eagles defeated Punxsutawney twice in the regular season last year.  But in their 2026 season opener, the Lady Chucks flipped the script, handing the Lady Eagles a 11-5 road loss.

Losing in their first game of the season was an underachievement, but every Tyrone player has the goal of not starting the season like last year.  In 2025, the Lady Eagles started 0-5 before going on an 11-game win streak.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Hilary Soellner saw positives in the game.

“We collected eight hits and two home runs. We have a lot of power in our lineup. Mentally, we need to be stronger and more focused at the plate. We are also learning to play as one unit,” said Soellner.

The Lady Eagles didn’t heat up until the seventh inning, and by that time it was too late.

Junior Lucy Fogelman hit a two-run homer, and freshman Paisley Fix hit a home run.

Fogelman also led the night with 3 RBI’s, followed by both Maddie Haines and Paisley Fix with one.

Juniors Kaitlyn Rockwell and Fogelman, along with Fix, all had two hits. Sophomores Sage Harris and Maddie Haines both had one hit.

Tyrone Lady Eagles JV team won 8-0, with the whole team rallying for the win. Their bats were on fire, and they played well in the field to keep the lead the whole game.

The Lady Eagles are at home against Bishop Caroll on Friday, March 27, at 4.30 pm. Followed by a home game against West Branch on Saturday at 12 pm
