Tyrone High’s annual PowderPuff game between the junior and senior girls will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 pm at Gray Field.

Last year the Seniors beat the Juniors (this year’s seniors) by a convincing 28-0 margin.

We have a lot of girls coming back, since last year we were all juniors. So I am very confident that we have this game in the bag

— Senior Coach Gary J Weaver III

Coming off last year’s big loss, this year’s seniors are pretty confident that they will get redemption and be the team that comes out on top.

“We have a lot of girls coming back, since last year we were all juniors. So I am very confident that we have this game in the bag,” said senior coach Gary J. Weaver III.

Experience is not the only thing that the seniors believe they have an advantage on, but they also believe the will win the battle in the trenches.

“The juniors aren’t ready for what’s coming. We are gonna dominate them in every aspect of the game on the O and D line,” said Levi Railing, coach of the senior line.

The senior coaches aren’t the only ones confident, the players are also very sure that they will avenge the loss from last year.

“After suffering a loss last year, we are ready to come back and win. Revenge is imminent.” said senior Center Paige Umholtz.

When asked for a quote from senior Makenzie Stauffer her response was “shut up”.

But are the seniors overconfident?  Rumor has it that the seniors have been relaxing at many of their practices and just enjoying their time together.

“Yeah we had a tailgate, that’s just what we do,” said Colby Pannebaker, a very handsome coach on the senior coaching staff.

I have a lot of very talented girls around me and I think we are gonna surprise a lot of people right of the opening kickoff

On the other hand, the juniors are pretty confident themselves.  They think they have what it takes to upset the senior team for only the second time in school history.

“I want in that record book, and if it means losing some friends along the way then so be it,” said junior equipment manager Parker Mitchell.

This years junior team has a very good set of skill positions which should go well with their very aggressive line.

The juniors are hoping that they can get their speed into the open field and the rest should take care of itself.

“I have a lot of very talented girls around me and I think we are gonna surprise a lot of people right of the opening kickoff,” said junior tailback Alainna Nevling.

The odds are obviously not in the juniors favor, but they plan to escape with the win by finding the seniors weaknesses.

“I went to the game last year as a bit of a scouting trip. From what I saw the weakness of the senior team is their defense. Watching the senior defense trying to stop us on offense is going to be quite the laugh for me,” said junior water boy Ethan “Kicker” Vipond.

“The storm is coming, and we are that storm,” junior Lea Crofcheck says referring to her team.

Both teams are pumped and ready to go on Wednesday night. It should be one for the ages. Kickoff is 7:00 pm at Gray Field.
