Varsity softball earned another win over the Huntingdon Bearcats 6-1 on Tuesday. Sophomore Cate Baran led the Lady Eagles with 17 strikeouts and Ally Jones hit a home run.

In the top of the third, Winnie Grot led with a single to the second baseman. Grot advanced to second on a wild pitch, then made it to third on a single by Madison Coleman. Grot scored on an error by the catcher for an attempt at picking her off. Jones then brought a long ball for a two-run home run for the score to be 3-0.

Emily Lehman started off the next inning with a single to the center fielder. Grot came up next with another single to have runners on first and second. Maddy Burger came into pinch run for Lehman. Coleman was up next and drew a walk from Huntington’s pitcher to load the bases for Jones to get two more RBI’s for the day.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Bearcats scored their lone run from a single to the center fielder, and then a sac fly was hit to get her in.

The Lady Eagles had eight hits as a team. Lehman and Grot both had two hits to lead Tyrone.

C.Baran shut down Huntingdon for the win by striking out 17 and only giving up three hits.

The Lady Eagles play away Thursday, May 3rd at 4:30.
