TSPN Episode 10: On the Road at the PSPA State Journalism Competition

For the first time ever, TSPN is on the road!

The TSPN podcast won the regional Pennsylvania Student Journalism Association competition for best podcast in the fall, which qualified them for the PA state journalism competition in the spring.

The challenge for all state-qualifying student podcasts was to produce an episode at the state finals in State College. This is the TSPN entry.

We are still waiting for the results of the state competition, and we will let you know if the TSPN team won a statewide award as soon as we find out.

Brayden Parsons, Social Media Editor

Brayden is currently a senior and this is his second year on the Eagle Eye staff. Brayden currently plays football, basketball, and baseball for the Golden Eagles. He is also a part of YAN and NHS, where he is the secretary. After high school Brayden plans on attending Pennsylvania State University to major in biology in hopes of becoming a physician assistant. His favorite thing to do outside of school is to watch sports and spend time with his friends and family. Some of his favorite teams include PSU, the New Orleans Saints, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. This year, Brayden wants to write sports articles, alumni spotlight stories, other news on local events, and continue to make graphics to post on Eagle Eye and Tyronesportscentral, in hopes of winning Myron Cope Awards for these accounts. Brayden would also like to host the TSPN podcast this year.

Carter Gwinn, Staff Writer

Carter Gwinn is a junior at Tyrone Area High School, and this is his second year in Eagle Eye. In his free time, he plays basketball during the winter and throws javelin during track season. This year in Eagle Eye, Carter hopes to write about the basketball and track teams and be co-host on TSPN. Carter enjoys, hanging out with his friends, lifting, and watching sports. After high school, he would like to attend college to become a nurse. Carter is excited to be a part of the Eagle Eye this year.

Elayna Hess, Staff Writer

Layna Hess is a Junior at Tyrone Area School District. This is her second year in the Eagle Eye Newspaper. She is interested in photography, academics, and athletics, like dancing. Layna has been dancing since she was three and started competing in dance when she was 10. Her plans after high school are to attend college to become a surgical technologist while also teaching dance. During her time in Eagle Eye, she would like to cover student spotlights, news, and multimedia.
