Senior Mikenzie Weaver has been a majorette and twirler for ten years.

From Tyrone parades, pep rallies, and football games, senior Mikenzie Weaver has been entertaining her school and community with her love of twirling for the past seven years.

“I fell in love with twirling in sixth grade when we first started our indoor team. It was something super new, since it was nothing like parades, and allowed me to incorporate my love for dance too,” said Weaver.

Weaver has been a member of the TAHS Marching Band as a majorette for all four years of high school. Weaver is also a member of the Star-Lite Twirlers, an independent majorette group based in Tyrone.

“The first year I was involved with twirling, we unexpectedly won which made me want to work harder. It felt amazing to have the comeback we did,” Weaver says.

Weaver has been a majorette for ten years and wants to continue it after graduation, even though it’s not a priority.

Marcia Fink, TAHS majorettes coach, has nothing but good things to say about Weaver.

“Mikenzie always puts on a great performance and is very much a perfectionist! She knows where she is going in life and she will be very successful,” said Fink.

Weaver is honored by all the members of the band, the majorettes, and her family. Weaver is known to try her best to help her friends and put a smile on everyone’s face. She is very close to all her peers but is an even better leader to everyone on the team.

“Mikenzie graduating will affect me so badly, just the thought of her having to leave the team because of her graduating saddens me to my core. Her leaving will definitely affect the team tremendously. She has always been one of our “leaders” and it will be so different without her,” said fellow twirler Isabella Creppage.

Creppage has known Weaver for about seven years, being a twirler with her in the band, having many memories and exciting adventures together.

After graduation, Weaver plans to attend college and study criminology with a minor in Spanish.

“Mikenzie, keep that beautiful smile and your drive, whatever you choose to do in life I know you will (be) successful,” said Fink.

Weaver is also involved in National Honor Society, Quiz League, Student Council, and Golden Revolution.

Weaver is looking forward to her final season and has some advice for the underclassmen.

“Take time for yourself. Between school, extracurricular activities, and working, life can get really busy, and sometimes you just need to slow down or you miss the small moments that mean the most,” Weaver says.
