Lady Eagles Tune Up for Playoffs with 3-0 Win Over Hollidaysburg

When Tyrone faced Hollidaysburg earlier in the season, they lost to the Lady Tigers in five sets. But the Lady Eagles did let that get to them Tuesday night when hosted the Lady Tigers for their last conference game of the season on October 26th.

In order to keep the high placement on the District 6 playoff bracket, the Lady Eagles needed to secure this win, and they showed up big in a three-set victory.

It was also Senior Night, so Tyrone was motivated for their seniors to go out with one last regular-season win on their home court.

The Lady Eagles started with serve in the first set and they were able to capitalize on their opportunities.

The set was filled with long rallies, and some outstanding digs by Tyrone’s defense. The girls got on top of the Lady Tigers early, which was the key to the win. The set ended 25-18 in favor of the Lady Eagles.

In the next set, Tyrone used the same tactic and got a lead in points early in the set. The girls made a few passing and hitting errors which caused the Lady Tigers to briefly take the lead at 15-14 points. But the Lady Eagles pulled through and ended up winning the set 26-24.

The last set started with high energy from the Lady Eagles. In order to keep their spot on the bracket for playoffs, they needed to secure the win for this match. Hollidaysburg looked beaten throughout the third set, which Tyrone won easily, 25-15.

Tyrone is the number 5 seed and will face #12 Northern Cambria at home tonight at 7pm in the first round of playoffs.
