On December 4th at 8:00 pm, Tyrone will be in the spotlight on channel 3, WPSU as part of their ongoing “Our Town” documentary series.

According to WPSU, the Our Town series “features the heritage and spirit of local communities from the perspective of the residents.”

What makes this program unique is that all of the footage used in the documentary was shot by the residents of Tyrone.

The Eagle Eye was heavily involved in the project, shooting video and doing interviews for four different segments of the program.

The program features on camera interviews with Eagle Eye editors Nathan Hormell and Paige Umholtz and footage shot by Eagle Eye staffers throughout the school district.

The Eagle Eye produced stories on Tyrone football Fridays, student life and activities at the High School, the Eagle Eye and Channel T, and other aspects of the Tyrone Area School District.

The project began in mid-September with a kickoff meeting at the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library.  At this meeting, members of the community were introduced to the project and asked to sign up for story topics.

In mid-October the group met again for the production day. On this day, WPSU did on camera interviews at the Tyrone Historical Society. The interviews were used as the narration of the program.

On November 18th, all production volunteers were invited to the Library for a sneak preview of the finished show.

Thursday will be the public debut of the program.

Viewers who do not live in the WPSU viewing area can watch the program live on Thursday at www.wpsu.org/live and viewers are encouraged to follow and contribute to the conversation on Twitter using #OTTyrone.
