Main Street Dance Company Succeeds at Local Competitions

The MainStreet Dance Company from Andrea’s School of Dance in Bellwood jumped into their spring competition season at the All Out Dance Competition in Altoona on February 9-11, and the Encore DCS Competition in Johnstown on March 15-17.

Many local and regional studios were in attendance and competition at the advanced and elite division at both events was intense.

At the Encore competition in Johnstown, six Tyrone Area Middle and High School dancers received top awards.

Tyrone junior Nora Hoy, sophomore Paige Hoy, and freshman Elayna Hess were among the top award-winners in the senior division.

Tyrone Middle School dancers Madeleine Pasquale, Alexa Wolfe, and Karissa Myers received top awards in the junior division.

“The Guardian” received the Highest Scoring Group for ages 12+. First Place Mic Drop, the Top Choreography Award, and First Place Overall awards were also earned by Jocelyn Hrzic.

“Uccelli” received Highest Scoring Group ages 11 and under, and 1st place Platinum. The choreography for “Uccelli” was by Andrea McGraw.

Encores adjudications from highest to lowest are Mic Drop, Diamond, Platinum, High Gold, or Gold.

Mainstreet received 3 Mic Drops, 8 Diamonds, 10 Platinums, and 2 High Golds.

  • “The Guardian ” (Senior Contemporary)- Talia Craig, Adaya Craig, Triumph Kilmartin, Riley Pellegrino, Elayna Hess, Shawna Lovrich, Ava Beiswenger, Sarah Papi, Nora Hoy, Paige Hoy, Lakaia Long. Choreographed by Jocelyn Hrzic
  • “Primavera” (Teen Solo)- Elayna Hess, choreographed by Anna Lovrich. Received 2nd place, judges award for “Breath of Fresh Air”, and 2nd place overall
  • “Near Light” (Senior Solo)- Shawna Lovrich. Received 1st place, Encore Extreme scholarship, Discovery spotlight Scholarship, and 3rd place overall

Diamond Winners:

  • “Maelstrom” (Senior Solo)- Nora Hoy- 4th place Diamond
  • “Wayfaring Stranger” (Senior Lyrical)- 1st place Diamond, and 4th place overall
  • “Moments Captured” (Senior Contemporary)- 1st place Diamond, and 1st place overall
  • “Spring” (Senior Modern)- 1st place Diamond
  • “Feelin’ Fosse” (Senior Jazz)- 1st place Diamond
  • “Seamless”(Senior Solo)-Riley Pellegrino- 2nd place Diamond, 4th place overall, and a special judges award for “Art in Motion”

All-Out Dance Competition

Several MainStreet dancers also did very well at the All-Out Dance Competition in Altoona in mid-February.

At the All Out Competition adjudications, from the highest score to lowest, were All Out Excellence, Platinum, All Out Gold, Gold, and All Out Silver.

The MainStreet dancers won three All Out Excellence, 14 Platinums, four All Out Gold, and one Gold.

The team also received two Judges’ Choice Awards, and “Spring” received Outstanding Choreography.

  • “Seamless” (Riley Pellegrino)- 5th place Platinum, and 5th place overall
