November Artist of the Month: Erik Ixtepan

Each month of the school year the Eagle Eye and art teacher Eric Feather will choose an Artist of the Month

The November Artist of the Month is the talented junior Erik Ixtepan.

Last year Ixtepan won a merit award for his piece, “French Fries are Delicious” at the 2014 Tyrone Art Show and his t-shirt design for the annual Backyard Brawl was selected from designs submitted by art students at Tyrone High School.

“Erik has really impressed me with his work,” said Tyrone High School art teacher Eric Feather, “he always challenges himself while taking on a project.”

“[Art] gives me a sense of feeling and passion

According to Feather, one thing that makes Ixtepan’s art exceptional is that it appeals to a broad audience.

“[Art] gives me a sense of feeling and passion,” said Ixtepan.  When asked how he felt about being chosen as Artist of the Month he said “well, I feel pretty swaggy.”

Ixtepan is unsure if his career goals will involve art, but he definitely plans to continue to use his talent.

“I can’t tell you what will happen in the future, but I can tell you what has happened in my past, and I’ve done a lot of art,” according to Ixtepan.

Other students in Ixtapan’s art class also appreciate his talent.

“I enjoy his art, he’s very creative,” said sophomore Mikayla Ritchey.

“The way he does his letters in a graffiti style is really cool,” said junior Carly Crofcheck, “his style is very unique.”
