Movie Review: The Fault In our Stars

"Maybe okay will be our Forever"

“Maybe okay will be our Forever”

Have you ever watched a movie that you needed to tell people about? The movie The Fault In our Stars was released less than a year ago, and it has every ones attention.

It’s about two teenagers who were diagnosed with cancer. The boy, who’s name was Gus, lost his leg due to cancer. However, the doctor said he was cured. The girl who goes by the name Hazel, has a rare cancer that effects her lungs, and they only gave her a few years to live.

They meet in group therapy.  Eventually Gus works up enough courage to try to win her over. As stubborn as us girls are, she plays hard to get. He takes her on walks, to his house, and even picnics. She slowly notices that she’s starting to fall in love with him, however she refuses to get any close because she said “I’m a Grenade, I can explode any giving time.” Not caring Gus says, “Id love to be hurt by you Hazel Grace, I love you.”

As time passes, Gus has a wish he can still use, because of his cancer, but Grace used hers when she was young. Her favorite author, invited her to ask him a few questions, but her parents said they couldn’t afford it.

Gus uses his wish to make her happy. They meet the author, only to find out that he’s nothing but an ignorant drunk. They fall in love that day, and truly find out what they mean to one another. He then later explains to Hazel he went to check up to the doctors, and he lit up like a Christmas  tree. Showing that there is cancer through his whole body, and he doesn’t have long to live. They spend as much time together until one night he is rushed to the hospital due to pain, and he eventually passes away. Hazel was devastated, and she showed up to his funeral, and said “Remember when we were going to sleep, and I said okay, and you replied maybe okay will be our always.”

This movie shows that even though to people are affected in life with such a horrible disease doesn’t mean they can’t fall in love. It shows that there is something close to a fairy tale, but not all have a happy ending. It shows two people love each other for who they are and not for their looks.

It’s a great movie, and I recommend that everyone see it.
