Courtney Williams and Mattie Cherry celebrate after a long rally

The Lady Eagles came into the Huntingdon game with a focused mentality and an air of confidence. Last weekend the Lady Eagles won the silver bracket in the Cumberland Valley tournament, an extremely competitive tournament. After their success the Lady Eagles wanted to make a statement against Huntingdon.

We really improved this weekend, not only our level of play, but also our mindset. We were focused and played as one unit. We’re hoping to carry this into the rest of our season and compete with that same competitive attitude in every match

— Senior Captain Bri Foy

“We really improved this weekend, not only our level of play, but also our mindset. We were focused and played as one unit. We’re hoping to carry this into the rest of our season and compete with that same competitive attitude in every match,” says Senior Bri Foy.

In the first set the Lady Eagles played a tough match. Huntingdon came out with high energy and were aggressive from the service line.  The Lady Eagles were neck and neck with the Huntingdon Bearcats at the end of the set. Senior Ebonee Rice went back to serve and went on a small serving run to put the Eagles back in the game. The Lady Eagles fought for the last points and won 27-25.

The Lady Eagles took that momentum and rolled with it. In the second set the Lady Eagles played with an aggressive mindset and didn’t let up. Junior Makenna Bauer led the offensive line and Huntington’s defense fell apart. The Eagles ended the set 25-6.

“You could tell we struggled a little during the first set, but I think that motivated us to play our best in the following sets. We quickly took control of that set and didn’t let up once,” said Junior Courtney Williams.

In the last set Huntingdon fought back, but the Lady Eagles couldn’t be stopped. The girls continued to play with the same focused mindset that led them in the second set. The last set ended with a score of 25-14.

Tyrone beats Huntingdon 3-0. Scores were 27-25, 25-6, 25-14. Tyrone improves to 4-2 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain League.
