The Lady Eagles knew they had a tough match ahead of them when they geared up for their away game against Philipsburg Osceola.

Philipsburg is notorious for being a difficult place to win at with their rowdy student section and hot, cramped gym. The team itself is recognized for being aggressive from the service line and having a solid defense so the Lady Eagles knew they would have to play their best.

Being able to beat such a challenging team and win at their place really showed that we are able to compete with some of the best teams around. Phillipsburg is very hard to beat because they constantly out work their opponents. By taking that game we proved that we can physically and mentally outlast other teams

Right from the start, Tyrone could tell that Phillipsburg wasn’t going to give away any free points. Both teams played with a very focused mentality and a competitive grit, going back and forth every point. The Lady Eagles were able to come out on top, winning the set 25-23.

The next set carried the same intensity. The Lady Eagles played a good game, but Phillipsburg was more aggressive from the service line. The match ended with a score of 26-24, with Phillipsburg taking the set.

After losing that set, the Lady Eagles knew they’d have to take this set to keep the momentum. Bri Foy, a senior, stepped up and went on several service runs and earned point after point at the net. The team kept the lead, managing to shut down the Mounties.

In the fourth set, Tyrone wanted to avoid going into a fifth set. Philipsburg came out with tough serves and led the set 18-11.  The Lady Eagles were tired but continued to battle. The Lady Eagles went on a small service run to get back in the game. Middle hitter, Courtney Williams, took charge in the last set and Phillipsburg defense couldn’t stop her. Williams got several kills and blocks that ramped up the Lady Eagle’s energy.  The Lady Eagles continued to out work Phillipsburg, and ended the set 25-20.
