January Renaissance Teacher of the Month: Mr. Eric Feather
Every month the Renaissance Club selects one teacher or staff member to be the Teacher/Staff of the month
Eagle Eye: What inspired you to become a teacher?
Eric Feather: “I enjoy working and communicating with others. I get a great sense of satisfaction from producing art and I wanted to share this experience with others.”
EE: How long have you been teaching?
EF: “This is my 24th year of teaching.”
EE: Have you always taught at Tyrone? If not, where else?
EF: “I taught for six years at Bel Air High School in Maryland.”
EE: What is your favorite memory as a teacher?
EF: “There are too many memories to narrow it down to just one. I always enjoy the expressions on students’ faces when they win an award at the annual art show. Those are some of my favorite memories.”
EE: If you weren’t teaching right now, what do you think you would have done with your life?
EF: “I’d be painting in my studio or painting a landscape on site somewhere within a 200-mile radius.”
EE: Where did you attend high school?
EF: “I attended Bedford High School.”
EE: Where did you attend college?
EF: “I attended Indiana University of PA and Towson University of Maryland.”
EE: What’s your favorite book?
EF: “The book I read almost daily is the Bible. I am a bit of a history buff, especially Civil War era. I’ve read the Civil War trilogy by Shelby Foote several times.”
EE: What is your favorite sport and sports team?
EF: “I always look forward to baseball season. I’ve learned to relax and enjoy the game even when the Pirates are losing.”
EE: What are some of your favorite hobbies?
EF: “Painting, painting and painting ….and biking, cooking, and eating.”
